  • Like sports, you don’t play sports to earn money, you do it cause you like it. You may make living of it, but in most probability you won’t

If you write for anything but your pure satisfaction, you are unlikely to achieve any goals. If success hit than enjoy it, but it must never be the reason from doing it.

  • It sounds like good advice, most of that article. People can dream of being famous writers, but so long as we don't get carried away and give up well paid jobs to just devote ourselves to just writing! Keeping it as a side line is good enough and if you are fortunate to get a good deal one day even better. I like the saying...I just enjoy writing! That's what all great writers say !!

  • I would agree that a person writes for deeper reasons not for business. If you hit it big like they say, great, but that's not the reason.

  • i think 99% of writers write because there is something inside them that makes them feel the need to put ideas, thoughts etc on paper. My friend, Wendy, has a son at university that is such a fantastic writer. He was reading magazines like the TV Times at the old age of 4. he has always written stories at very high level, and still does. A natural (don't you just hate him - joking-).

he would like to earn big money, he want to earn a living from it but his desire to write has always been there.

  • I don't enjoy writing as much as enjoy reading what I have written. Does that make sense to anyone?
