what is a daughter

I wrote this after sending the well known poem "what is a boy" to mycorneroftheworld and she said "have you one for a daughter"

What is a daughter??

She’s a joy she’s an angel, well that’s what she thinks
She clings on to your heart like a plug to a sink
She drives you all crazy with make believe games
She’ll have you believe that fairies fly planes

She often comes in with imaginary friends
And can draw on her dad with those permanent pens
She has pretty parties with dolls as her mates
But then runs straight outside and she swings on the gate

She listens to stories of love and romance
Then shoves a live frog in her best friends pants
At night when asleep the angels go quiet
I often do think that she could start a riot

She looks like a princess all said and done
And uses mums lipstick to draw a big sun
All over the walls and down the settee
Her face is alive and she giggles with glee

Its then that you have to be strong and quite firm
For if you stand back she will never quite learn
And learn things she does most every day
She learns how to get things her very own way

She came into your life and captured your heart
And then from that time you won’t stay apart
You may keep your son till he finds a good wife
But your daughters your daughter for all of her life

A daughter will always be Daddy's lil princess and baby angel,

I liked that poem very much the first time I heard it too But I do hope you are wrong about the last lines as I have two boys too, you know, and I don't want to lose them!

  it is said over here that a son is a son until he gets a wife...then she is no 1...but i'm sure your boys will stand by you!!

We have two daughters and two sons and we treat them all the same. We always have and we always will. Thank goodness that we are allowed to be different.

  What is a Boy?
  
  Author: Unknown
  
  He's an imp and an angel,
  a dreamer, a tease
  An explorer of meadows, and
  a climber of trees.
  
  A runner of errands, and
  doer of chores.
  Who tears his best trousers, and
  tracks up your floors.
  
  He's a solemn young man with
  some mud on his feet,
  And a daredevil riding his
  bike down the street.
  
  A bundle of questions, who
  wants to know "why",
  The world goes around and
  the stars fill the sky.
  
  But adventurous, timid, excited
  or quiet,
  There's nothing so new that he
  won't care to try it.
  
  And just when your temper and
  patience wear thin,
  He'll look up at you with an
  innocent grin.
  
  And your heart melts again with
  your real pride and joy,
  In that mischievous, wonderful
  treasure--- your boy!!

  i did one for my son
  
  My son
  
  He’s just a little angel, he wouldn’t hurt a fly
  He is just the perfect child, but then I know just why
  He‘s laying fast asleep just now serene and angel like
  But in a flash he’s up and out and crashing on his bike.
  
  One day he is a soldier a sailor and a spy
  He sometimes flies off out in space but no one asks him why
  He goes to stars so far away he even built a rocket
  And all the space rocks that he finds will be shoved in his pockets
  
  The school day is a trying time. You get him clean and spruce
  But 10 yards down the road you find him crawling in a bush
  Spider’s, hedgehog’s, birds and mice he searches ditches too
  And back from school he then turns up covered in some goo!!
  
  He smiles at you, a cheeky grin that always melts your heart
  But then he sits right next to you a does a silent fart
  He giggles loads and chuckles hard His face is lit with glee
  It’s then he turns and says to you “is it time for tea”
  
  And then its girls, sport more girls and then perhaps some cars
  You know that soon he will go out, drinking in some bars
  And then one night he’ll stagger in tipsy if not drunk
  You’ll be mad!! He’ll wake up bad and smelling like a skunk!!
  
  He grows so fast and soon he’ll leave adventures all to have
  You’ll smile at him and hug him hard but know that you’ll feel sad
  He may think that he’s all grown up and on his own two feet
  But he’ll just be your little boy as long as your heart beats

  Here me now my little boy, my baby my young lad
  You will be loved most every day by your mum and dad
  There’s nothing that can get you down that we won’t try to mend
  We love you son please don’t forget that were your true best friends
