Ok, now i'm an amateur, i've written many songs, poems, and i'm currently writing a screenplay and a book. I took english lit at A-Level and i'm doing quite well, i also took Drama and Media Studies. I've had two poems published in these youth poetry books, my first one i sent in was published so i thought i'd send in another one, which i did. Now the first one i did not rate very well, but my teacher insisted i enter the competition, but i would like your opinions on my second published poem, keep in mind i'm just 17, so don't be too harsh, but please give me tips on how i can improve. Here is my poem about the main character Blanche Dubois in the play 'A Streetcar Named Desire'..Enjoy....

White Woods

You never looked into the light
You never gave up on a fight
You always hid in the night

You never conquered what you sought
You never gave a second thought
You never earned, but you bought

Promiscuously, dirty deals
All the things they made you feel
Was fantasy better than the real?

Paper Lanterns, Shattered Glass
Trying to cover up your past
You know yourself it will never last

The final chapter of your pain
From belle reve to New Orleans
You always had to be so vain

Seven cards, dealt apart
You chose the diamonds over the hearts
That’s what made this so hard

A tragedy from your youth
You saw something that was uncouth
So now you hide from the truth

You stayed refined you stayed alive
You held back your tears so you wouldn’t cry
Now you start to believe you can fly…

The end is near the end is close
They’ll sell your jewellery and all your clothes
They pin you down, for a 100-milligram dose

Don’t be afraid, we are your rangers
We’ll take you away to your manger
While you depend on the kindness of strangers

Thanks For Reading :)
