Two more short stories rejected within the space of two weeks. Talk about a lean spell!
Be interested to hear words of inspiration from anybody who has submitted work to a short story competition, got nowhere with the first, tried a different one and won, or at least gained a commendation!
Yeah, I'm really grasping at straws here.

Hi Robin,
When I contacted the winning author of our first short story contest she was extremely surprised and said that the story she had sent in had 'done the rounds' for a good while and got nowhere. She thought she'd send it in as it was already written, and won £100 and a firstwriter.com voucher.
It just goes to show you that timing plays an important part, as all of the readers/judges here thought it was one of the best short stories we've read in a long time.
Keep plugging away. Use the free-to-enter competitions if funds are tight, but keep going. If your works is good it will eventually be noticed.
I know from experience that a thick skin is required in this business...
Regards,
Andy Goodman
